Things to Consider While Choosing a Good Tyre Changer

Purchasing garage equipment, indeed, is expensive and that’s the reason, it is important to have knowledge before choosing the right tyre changer. There is no arguing with the fact that the tyre changing equipment has become increasingly popular in order to keep up the pace with the evolution of custom wheels.

Here’s a list of few ideas that you should consider while choosing a tyre changer.

1.Turntable Size: Make sure you check the external rim gripping diameter capacity specifications when you buy a new tyre changer. In addition, make sure that all large alloy rims must be gripped from the outside not the inside of the rim. As this can damage the rim and can result in the wheel becoming dislodged during the process of fitting.

2. Wheel Size: Always bear this in mind that make sure you don’t just go for the rim size, but also take a look at the actual diameter of the wheel that it can handle. There are cheaper tyre fitting machines that may hold a four-wheel drive rim but the machine is not physically big enough to accept massive tyres that need to be fitted to some four-wheel drives.

3. Bead Blaster: With respect to four-wheel drive tyres, tubeless tyres can be very difficult to seal or seat the beads of the tyre to the rim. This will help to create an airtight seal so the tyre stays inflated. The bead blast option helps to shoot the high-pressure blast of air into the tyre which helps to seat the tyre substantially.

4. Accessory (Wheel Lifter): This helps a lot in providing an obvious Health and Safety advantage. Make sure you take a look at the weight of the wheels, if they fall outside of your recommendations, then the natural choice would be a wheel lifter.

5. Automatic Air Inflator: An inflation computer helps to boost up the fitting process as the auto-inflator can be inflating a tyre whilst your tech is fitting the tyre to the next rim than looking for the tyre to inflate.

6. Tilt-back Machine: Right from the beginning, tilt back machines have been the preferred style of machine for providing ultra high performance. And the best thing is that they are a much more rigid machine than the manual type machine.

7. Lever-less: Buying a lever-less machine is often based on personal choice, as it has been observed that it may not suit all operators. However, lever-less can speed the fitting process up and needless to say, it’s much safer. Moreover, it adds more complications, which will require more training and at the same time, more support/repairs.

There are a lot of lever-less machines on the market, which requires a technician’s to operate them and repair them.
